ROAD SAFETY - WAKE GREEN ROAD22 November 2023 (by admin) |
It was brought to our attention that one of our children ran across the Wake Green Road after school today and very nearly got hit by a passing car. This of course is deeply troubling and worrying. Thankfully, some parents contacted school to inform us.
We will speak to all the children tomorrow about road safety and reiterate the important message of ROAD AWARENESS & PERSONAL SAFETY.
Of course some of our older Y6 children have written permission from their parents to walk home from school. Perfectly understandable with secondary school on the horizon - developing greater independence etc. It is still however very important to speak to them about safety and awareness. Please talk to your child - it's vital!
If you always collect your child from St. Bernard's and walk home, please keep them close to you at all times when leaving the school premises. It only takes a few seconds to be distracted and they could be away from you.
Apologies for the late evening correspondence, but it is a message the whole school community needs to be reminded of. Rest assured, we will speak to all the children tomorrow.
Thank you parents.
